Print Luna Layna

A$150

The artist, Roni Askey-Doran, is descended from Mannalargenna who was the chief of the Plangermaireener clan in north-eastern Tasmania. She expresses herself through her art and her writing. This print comes as a 16" x 16" canvas.

"Luna Layna" is palawa kani (Tasmanian aboriginal language) for "Women are Strong." The painting is of a dancing woman, singing to celebrate women. Clearly depicted are her brain, heart, and vagina, the sources of her strength. The hands represent her female ancestors. In the top left corner is the aboriginal symbol for a gathering of women, and on the bottom, in the middle, there is a single symbol for women. Beside it, the Aboriginal flag is represented. On the right, under her arm, there is a stream and a waterhole, the source of life for the whole planet.

This print can be shipped to anywhere in Australia.
